A Unique Experience

  • FocuSStem NextGen is a student-created and-led program where STEM-interested high school students are invited to experience hands-on learning about careers in science, technology, and healthcare at the Karmanos Cancer Institute and Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, MI

  • STEM-interested students from the area high schools will learn from selected experts such as laboratory research scientists, physicians, nurses, physicists, phlebotomist, and others  

  • Enjoy lunch with various STEM experts and increase your networking skills

  • Students will go on three amazing tours of the medical center including the Department of Pathology, Radiation Oncology, and research laboratories  

  • Valuable materials for summer opportunities including the FocuSStem NextGen Intensive and other STEM-driven opportunities at Wayne State University will be provided
